A Robert Burn’s Scottish Music Themed RVCC House Concert

  • Rockfish Valley Community Center 190 Rockfish School Lane Afton, VA, 22920 United States (map)

“Flow gently, sweet Afton, among thy green braes,

Flow gently, I'll sing thee, a song in thy praise.”

-Robert Burns

Join Ryan and Cat Dunne along with special guest and author Kevin Donleavy for a jolly night of song and poetry composed and inspired by Scotland's most famous poet Robert Burns! The night shall feature all the spirit and fun of a traditional ‘Rabbie Burn’s Night’ just without the haggis!

As part of the Joyous Joyce’s Literary and Ethnomusicological Society’s ongoing effort of sharing musical history from around the world, the poems and songs will be provided with a brief historical context to bring deeper understanding and appreciation to the life and work of this farm boy turned poet and pioneer of the Romantic Movement.

Also being shared will be Ryan’s deeply moving and beautifully painted ‘Crankie’ puppet show entitled “The Foggy Dew” telling the tale of the 1916 Easter Rising in Dublin and the Scottish women that made it happen.
